![]() ![]() Luckily, the story being largely the same shape means you’re spending most of your time going toe to toe with SHODAN, and this buoys the entire game because boy, SHODAN is a hell of a villain. While the original game was more menu than game, with the huge UI taking up most of the screen while you observe the action astronaut style through a little window - here Nightdive has offered up something that, in play, feels a lot more like the 1999 sequel System Shock 2. This is very much a retread of that first game, albeit fleshed out in a lot of places. Walking up to the first locked door, I entered the now-legendary 451 code (once the door code of original System Shock developers Looking Glass Studios and now an immersive sim staple) and the door slowly opened. So I am open to suggestions no matter how old the game might be.This is a retelling of the same yarn, and not only were several areas of Citadel Station easily recognizable, but several enemies were located in the same spot. I am thinking about Strife right now, because it has a similar FPS/RPG approach. Now I think that Desu Ex Human Revolution is almost a walking simulator compared to the richness of System Shock.Īnd of course: I have played Deus Ex, Deus Ex:HR, System Shock 2, Bioshock already. SS is not easy and I was stuck A LOT but with patience and some logic I was always able to find solutions. ![]() I mean amazing atmosphere, good gameplay (I like the hub in SS a lot) and good puzzles. ![]() So I want to know if there are other games similar to System Shock and I don't care if they are old. So I am lucky that I am not bothered by old graphics, if they are put in use effectively: Yes, SS is old and has dated graphics, but the graphics are still amazing, because they work around the limitations very well. I might even like it more than System Shock 2 and I loved that too. ![]()
